Books description:
My Sweet Vegan - Covering virtually every craving, this wonderful full color cookbook is the ultimate sweet tooth solution. Think eggs, milk and butter are essential to scrumptious desserts? Hannah Kaminsky convince you otherwise. Kaminsky, who is only 19, published her first cookbook, “My Sweet Vegan,” which includes more than 70 recipes for goodies such as Root Beer Float Cupcake, Butterscotch Blondies, Chai “Cheesecake” and Mocha Devastation Cake, for which she won a bake-off at the Dogwood Festival in Fairfield. Enjoy a slice of Silken Chocolate Mousse Cake, everyone deserves an indulgence now and then!
Vegan with a Vengence - Isa Chandra hosts her own public access cooking show, she scatters stories about her mother, her friends and her politics among recipes for goodies like Fresh Corn Fritters and Curried Split Pea Soup. The vegan iterations of Spanakopita and Seitan-Portobello Stroganoff so closely approximate the traditional versions that even the pickiest eaters would happily trade one for the other. And although there’s no chicken broth in Matzoh Ball Soup, the vegetable stock is hearty enough to cure the fiercest cold. Rare in a vegan cookbook, the author provides several appealing and tasty dairy-free desserts.
Vegan a Go-Go!: A Cookbook & Survival Manual for Vegans on the Road - is a must for frequent travelers. This adorable, pint-sized book includes 150 recipes, many of them new, and others a perfect assortment of "best of" adapted from Sarah’s earlier books. All of the recipes are easy to prepare with a minimum of ingredients and are guaranteed to deliver energy, nutrition, and great flavor. The book also contains information and advice pertinent to vegan travelers, from how to deconstruct a restaurant menu to what food items are best suited to carry around in your luggage or handbag. There’s even a section on “How to Say ‘I Am Vegan’” in numerous languages.
La Dolce Vegan!: Vegan Livin' Made Easy - Sarah Kramer is a vegan cooking superstar, and Herbivore magazine, in a cover story on Sarah, called her "The World's Coolest Vegan." This book keeps it quick and simple with easy, creative, and delicious recipes, cooking tips, nifty crafts, pop culture, and humor. The ingredients are easy-to-find in grocery stores and the dishes generally take only 20-30 minutes to prepare. As the title suggests, recipes are presented with a kitschy flair and includes lots of yummy desserts.
How it all Vegan - is beginner-friendly and loaded with veganized versions of your favorite dishes. Most of the recipes are easy to prepare and require minimum time and effort. More than just recipes, the authors offer expert recommendations on veg-substitutes and ways to ensure proper nutrition (these days it's easy to be a junk-food vegan). As a bonus, find health and beauty product recipes, instructions on how to make safe household cleaners, treats for your animal friends, a section on Kids' Stuff, and the ever-useful "45 things to do with vinegar" section, all in one publication!
Six Arguments for a Greener Diet - For 35 years the nonprofit Center for Science in the Public Interest has published hard-hitting studies exposing the dreadful nutritional content of movie theatre popcorn, fast foods, and restaurant meals. Here, a meticulously researched examination of scientific studies that finds that eating more plant foods and fewer fatty animal products can lead to extra years of healthy living.
That same diet also leads to much less food poisoning, water pollution, air pollution, global warming, and animal suffering, explains lead author and CSPI executive director Michael F. Jacobson.
